      This course provides a foundational introduction to sexual health as a concept and to sexual health promotion as a tool for prevention. Users who are new to prevention should complete all lessons within the Building Blocks of Prevention course before completing this course.

      This lesson introduces the concept of sexual health or healthy sexuality.  It explains the concept and presents sexual health promotion (or the promotion of healthy sexuality) as a tool for prevention.

      What is “sexual health” and why does “sexual health promotion” matter for sexual and domestic violence prevention? This course provides a foundational introduction to answer these questions. This lesson introduces the concept of sexual health or healthy sexuality.  It explains the concept and presents sexual health promotion (or the promotion of healthy sexuality) as a tool for prevention.

      The goal of this course is to provide you with a foundational introduction to sexual health as a concept and to sexual health promotion as a tool for prevention.

      Educational Objectives:

      • Define and describe sexual health.
      • State at least 2 ways sexual health promotion contributes to sexual and domestic violence prevention.

      Skill Objectives:

      • Identify 2 or more potential partners from sexual health fields/entities in your community with whom to work to advance sexual health and sexual and domestic violence prevention.
      • Identify and promote at least one sexual health promotion strategy, such as comprehensive sexuality education, in your community.
